DIGITAL FARMSCAPES

This slideshow gallery of digital 'Farmscape' images is mostly from around St. Veep near Lostwithiel in Cornwall. They are photographs treated with shifts in brightness, contrast and saturation, also a watercolour effect.

The idea of 'farmscapes' came about from seeing the land in vertical layers. These tall strips are not a standard image format, but show the layered textures in these images. Textures of sky and field, trees and shadows.

These layers contain lateral shapes with undulating curves, often with several horizons. This relates to an ancient sense, still left over from our existence as hunter / gatherers. Nowhere was safer than a place where you were protected from behind, like by a tree - but still able to view a large expanse of land with several horizons.
