Hi, I’m simonthescribe wot makes Nettle Soup !

I live in North Cornwall UK, on the edge of Bodmin Moor. When I am not on the computer you will generally find me in the garden doing the ‘all sorts of interesting things’ you can find in this and other issues of Nettle Soup. I really hope you enjoy this issue of the ezine and send it to all your friends and ask them to sign up for upcoming FREE issues. Don’t forget to sign up yourself !

I make this labour of love called Nettle Soup as a contribution to the emergence of the Transition Culture and all that goes with it. It has regular sections themed around my areas of interest concerning transition.

It is also a vessel of self-promotion – I want you to see what beautiful things I can make and employ me to publish your website or book. So here are some examples of my ‘products’:

website designWebsite design: You can buy spectacularly good looking and highly effective websites from simonthescribe at aplus1.co.uk . Its fair to say that just about anyone can make a website these days, but making an effective website that targets people, builds traffic and conveys your message is still beyond the capability of most beginners.

Being able to use website software or wizards isn’t the same as being a good designer, any more than using a word processor makes someone an author.

Secrets of the valleySecrets of The Valley. Episode 1: The Lily
An ancient matrix of energy lies hidden in the earth, its existence and purpose all but forgotten. One strand, named ‘The Dragon Line’ passes through Cornwall, a land steeped in mystery since the dawn of time. Here the line passes through the valley of the River Fowey. The lone voice of a ghost, abandoned in the valley for 2000 years, speaks to tell how the line of energy has been usurped, unbalancing the whole matrix. We share his lives as he bounces through time. He sets a crucial task, to mend the Dragon Line and restore the balance of power before time itself runs out.

Confucius and Christ

Ways of CONFUCIUS and of CHRIST
When a diplomat abandons his career to enter a religious community it is commonly felt that he has made a break with his past. When the diplomat is a Chinese Foreign Minister and the community a Benedictine abbey in Belgium, the contrast is all the more startling. But here Dom Lou sets out to show that his life preserves an essential unity, just as the natural order precedes and leads up to the supernatural, so he has been led from the ways of Confucius to those of Christianity and finally to the Catholic Church and monastic life.

Fourfold Vision

The Fourfold Vision
Originally published in 1945, The Fourfold Vision makes a welcome return. Here is the full integration of science and issues of faith from the pen of a master. Dr. Sherwood Taylor has gained great respect for his work on The Alchemist and many other books where scientific investigation meets with matters of faith and belief. He was the first editor of ‘Ambix’ magazine and was Director at the Museum of History of Science in Oxford. Join him here on a classic journey from the centre of Science and Philosophy to the heart of Art and Nature.

Call me Alan

Just Call Me Alan
For many years we tried to encourage Dad to put his memories on tape for posterity and eventually with a Christmas present of a Dictaphone and tapes and my brother being in a position to make a regular weekly commitment to encourage and ask questions these memories came about. Please read on for the memories of a man who experienced life as a choirboy in Coventry Cathedral, an army officer in the Second World War, an active participant in D-day, an adjutant in a prisoner of war camp for the Germans, a programmer for one of the first computers used commercially and a romantic man in a long and happy marriage. In loving memory.
